A new film documenting the Regulation Movement premieres at Alamance Battleground


TheRegulatorsAdvertisingPosterBurlington NC, October 23, 2014: The Alamance Battleground will host a private premiere for a new full-length independent documentary. The documentary, entitled “The Regulators,” is a production of Burlington-based ShutteRelease. This is a feature-length movie which documents the Regulation movement that culminated in their clash with Governor Tryon’s militia at the Battle of Alamance on May 16, 1771. Invitees to the premiere include representatives of the NC Department of Cultural Resources, the Alamance Chamber of Commerce, the Arts Council, representatives from Old Salem and Tryon Palace, historians and historical interpreters, historical and militia reenactors, and other production staff.

Filming was conducted through most of 2014 at Alamance Battleground, Old Salem Museum and Gardens, Tryon Palace, the Regulator monument at Hillsborough, other State historic sites, and Cowpens National Battlefield in South Carolina. The documentary has been submitted for consideration to several prestigious national and international film festivals including Sundance, Durham’s Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, Toronto’s Hot Docs, and the American Film Institute’s AFI Docs Documentary Film Festival.
